Much is known and taught about puberty and adolescence, but the field of adult sexual health is rarer. New research is being conducted with the understanding that sex is s lifelong practice for most of us, with varying concerns and joys along the road. The morning portion of the class will focus on young adulthood & middle age, while the afternoon portion will focus on post-menopause for female-bodied people & older age for all genders. Biological, social and behavioral development will be covered (See Learning Objectives for details).

This program meets the requirements of the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) and is approved for 6 CE credits. These CE credits may be applied toward AASECT certification and renewal of certification.

  • Participants will re-define the meaning of sexual success in later life.
  • Participants will be able to describe how these themes can impact sexual health, pleasure, and relationships.
  • Participants will be able to discuss sexual concerns and realities of women in the range of 60-75 years of age.
  • Participants will be able to list six major developmental themes experienced in young adulthood through middle age.
  • participants will be able to explain three strategies for addressing the impacts of these developmental themes.
  • Participants will be able to identify at least 2 strategies for dealing with sexual concerns and realities of natural aging, including health benefits and consequences.
